RBC launches unified Global Transaction Banking unit with co-heads

Royal Bank of Canada (NYSE: RY) announced the formal establishment of Global Transaction Banking (GTB) as a unified business, combining transaction banking capabilities from its Commercial Banking and Capital Markets divisions under shared leadership and a single strategy.

The new unit will be jointly led by Sean Amato-Gauci, Group Head of Commercial Banking, and Derek Neldner, CEO and Group Head of RBC Capital Markets, who will serve as co-heads. Kartik Kaushik has been appointed Head of GTB for Product, Platforms and Solutions, while Michael Klopchic has been appointed Head of GTB for Client Coverage. Both will report to Amato-Gauci and Neldner.

The reorganization consolidates RBC's transaction banking operations across Canada and the U.S. under one structure. The bank said the new arrangement will not change its financial reporting, and results will continue to be reported within existing business segments.

GTB's offerings include RBC Clear, a digital cash management platform in the U.S., and RBC Edge, a digital cash management platform in Canada. The unit also covers foreign exchange, payments, trade finance and liquidity management.

According to the press release, RBC holds a first-place position in transaction banking in Canada, including the largest wholesale deposit portfolio based on Government of Canada data, and the leading payments franchise according to a Payments Canada report from July 2026.
