SpaceXAI to deploy Nvidia Vera CPUs for agentic AI and orbital use

Nvidia (NASDAQ: NVDA) announced that SpaceXAI will deploy Nvidia Vera CPUs to accelerate agentic AI application workloads, according to a company press release dated Aug. 24, 2026.

SpaceXAI will use the Vera CPU to handle orchestration, code execution, data processing and simulation tasks that surround AI model inference. The company also plans to expand its AI infrastructure for its Grok platform using the Nvidia Vera Rubin platform as it scales toward gigawatts of computing capacity.

The Vera CPU features 88 Nvidia-designed Olympus cores, Nvidia Spatial Multithreading technology and LPDDR5X memory delivering up to 1.2TB/s of bandwidth. Nvidia claims the chip enables up to 1.8x faster task completion compared with x86 CPUs across agentic AI, reinforcement learning and data processing workloads.

"Vera gives us the CPU performance and memory bandwidth to run enormous amounts of orchestration, code and data processing while keeping GPUs doing what they do best," said Mike Nicolls, president of SpaceXAI.

SpaceXAI also plans to extend Nvidia accelerated computing into orbit. Its planned first-generation Starmind AI satellite will be based on an optimized Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 rack-scale system. Nvidia and SpaceXAI said they are working to adapt the architecture to the constraints of orbital computing, including power, thermal management, bandwidth and reliability requirements.

"Vera gives AI agents the CPU performance to act in real time — executing code, processing data and coordinating complex tasks," said Ian Buck, vice president of hyperscale and high-performance computing at Nvidia. "SpaceXAI is taking this architecture from massive AI factories to the next frontier of computing in orbit."

The Vera Rubin platform integrates Nvidia accelerated computing, NVLink interconnect technology, Spectrum-X Ethernet networking and BlueField data processing in a unified architecture. Nvidia said the platform is designed to optimize performance and energy efficiency at scale while reducing cost per token.
