Disney+ and Hulu have announced a video podcast deal with iHeartMedia to bring six iHeartPodcasts titles to the streaming platforms, according to a press release from the companies.
The first title, Hey Jonas!, featuring Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas, will debut on both Disney+ and Hulu on August 14. The launch coincides with the lead-up to Camp Rock 3 on Disney+, with initial episodes covering Camp Rock and footage from D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event.
Pod Meets World, hosted by Boy Meets World cast members Danielle Fishel, Will Friedle, and Rider Strong, will stream on Disney+ beginning August 24. The podcast has recorded more than 55 million audio downloads.
Three additional titles will arrive on Hulu: Desperately Devoted, a rewatch podcast for Desperate Housewives hosted by Teri Hatcher, Andrea Bowen, and Emerson Tenney, premieres November 2. Fake Doctors, Real Friends with Zach and Donald, a Scrubs rewatch hosted by Zach Braff and Donald Faison, and StraightioLab, hosted by George Civeris and Sam Taggart, are both scheduled to stream later this year. Thanks Dad with Ego Nwodim will also arrive on Hulu in the fall.
New episodes will stream weekly across all titles. The deal is limited to U.S. subscribers, with Hulu titles also available to Disney+ bundle subscribers via Hulu on Disney+.
The Walt Disney Company's Lauren Tempest, Head of Content Planning and Partnerships, DTC, and iHeartMedia Chairman and CEO Bob Pittman both cited audience demand for video podcast content as a factor in the partnership.
