Voyager Technologies (NYSE: VOYG) has been awarded a contract with the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command to develop space-to-space communication capabilities, according to a press release from the company.
Under the contract, Voyager will develop a flight-ready waveform design capable of operating across a variety of orbits, with specific requirements for weight, power, and design life. The company will also conduct an on-orbit communication demonstration. The work is intended to support a resilient data transport architecture for the Department of Defense.
Matt MagaƱa, president of Space, Defense & National Security at Voyager, said the system being developed "will securely connect tactically linked spacecraft and systems across every orbit," adding that the company's "manufacturing capacity, transparent pricing and cost predictability is critical as the Space Force scales their data network."
The contract is part of the Space Force's broader effort to advance space-to-space communication technologies and expand proliferated low Earth orbit capabilities. Voyager said the program builds on its existing work in radiation-hardened designs, precision radio frequency payloads, and on-orbit electronics.
