GlobalFoundries picks Redpanda for real-time data platform

August 10, 2026 8:30 AM EDT

GlobalFoundries (NASDAQ: GFS) has selected Redpanda as a technology partner to build a unified real-time data platform across its semiconductor manufacturing operations, according to a press release from Redpanda.

The Redpanda Data Platform replaces GlobalFoundries' legacy change-data-capture infrastructure to stream equipment, process, and scientific data from its manufacturing operations. The platform connects manufacturing, engineering, and business systems across GlobalFoundries' global sites in the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Redpanda's forward-deployed engineers are working alongside GlobalFoundries teams to modernize digital manufacturing capabilities. Tier-0, mission-critical systems are already live in production, the companies said.

GlobalFoundries is also using Redpanda's Agentic Data Plane to build a portfolio of AI agents targeting automation and operational efficiency across IT, procurement, and other business functions. The company said it plans to expand adoption over time.

"Semiconductor manufacturing depends on trusted, real-time access to operational data and, at GF, we are continually investing in the digital capabilities needed to support increasingly complex manufacturing operations," said Vishal Mehra, SVP and Chief Information Officer at GlobalFoundries. "Working with Redpanda, we are building a modern, scalable data infrastructure that improves operational visibility and accelerates decision-making at global scale."

Alex Gallego, founder and CEO of Redpanda, said the platform is designed to apply the governance, confidentiality, and access controls required in semiconductor manufacturing to environments where AI agents are also consuming data in real time.
