Toast enables food ordering through Google Maps Ask Maps feature

Toast (NYSE: TOST) announced an integration with Google that allows diners to order food from Toast-affiliated restaurants through Ask Maps, a conversational AI feature within Google Maps.

Through the integration, users can search for restaurants or specific food items by voice or text within Google Maps, and Ask Maps will display menus from nearby Toast restaurants and complete the order within the same flow. Orders placed through the feature are processed via Toast's first-party ordering system, meaning no third-party commission fees apply to operators.

Toast said it is a co-developer of the Universal Commerce Protocol (UCP) for Food, an open standard designed to govern how AI agents interact with restaurants across platforms including Google Search, Maps, and Gemini.

"This integration with Google is a direct extension of that work, bringing a new agentic ordering experience to a discovery moment guests already rely on," said Kelly Esten, Chief Marketing Officer and Chief Operating Officer of Enterprise at Toast.

To encourage early adoption, Toast is offering $5 in Toast Cash to guests who place a qualifying order of $30 or more through a Toast restaurant via Ask Maps using express checkout. The promotional offer can be redeemed through the Toast Local app. The promotion is expected to begin in late August.
