HCA Healthcare, Inc. (NYSE: HCA) announced two executive appointments, both effective Sept. 1, 2026, according to a company statement.
Michael Schlosser, M.D., currently senior vice president and chief transformation officer, will become executive vice president and chief clinical officer. He succeeds Dr. Michael Cuffe, who announced in June his departure from the role effective Aug. 31. Dr. Cuffe will remain with the company as an executive consultant through February 2027.
In his new role, Dr. Schlosser will report to chief executive officer Sam Hazen and will oversee the Clinical Services Group, which includes Quality, hospital Chief Medical Officers, Nursing, Graduate Medical Education, and Hospital Based Services. He will also continue leading the company's Digital Transformation and Innovation organization and its clinical informatics functions.
Prior to his current role, Dr. Schlosser served as group chief medical officer for HCA Healthcare's National Group and vice president of clinical excellence and surgical services. He also previously served as chief medical officer for HealthTrust and chief of staff at TriStar Centennial Medical Center.
Separately, Charles Gressle, currently president of HCA Healthcare's East Florida Division, will become president of a newly created Ambulatory Operations Group, reporting to executive vice president and chief operating officer Jon Foster. The group encompasses more than 2,700 facilities and clinics, including the Physician Services Group, Urgent Care operations, Physician Practice Operations, and the Surgery Ventures Group.
HCA Healthcare said searches for successors to both Dr. Schlosser's and Gressle's current positions are underway.
