DP World acquires six UK grocery logistics sites from GXO

DP World has agreed to take over six contract logistics sites from GXO Logistics (NYSE: GXO) in the United Kingdom, adding more than two million square feet of warehouse capacity and approximately 2,000 employees to its UK operations.

The transfer was a regulatory condition set by the UK Competition and Markets Authority as part of its approval of GXO's acquisition of Wincanton. The six sites — located in Doncaster, Rochdale, Charlton, Greenford, Wellingborough, and Larne — are expected to transfer to DP World in September. GXO will retain transport operations at all applicable sites.

The facilities serve grocery retailers Asda, Sainsbury's, and the Co-op, and support ambient, chilled, frozen, and bonded storage for approximately 46,000 unique products. Five sites are in England and one is in Northern Ireland.

The acquired sites will join DP World's existing UK infrastructure, which includes container ports at London Gateway and Southampton, along with freight forwarding and marine services.

Angela Howard, Vice President of Contract Logistics, North Europe at DP World, said the transition would mean "business as usual" for customers, "backed by the strength, scale and investment of a global logistics business."
