CVS shares jump on earnings beat, raised full-year guidance
Investing.com -- CVS Health shares jumped about 5% in premarket trading Wednesday after the company raised its full-year profit guidance following better-than-expected second-quarter results.
The healthcare group reported second-quarter earnings per share of $2.58, beating the analyst estimate of $1.83. Revenue rose 7.3% year-over-year to $106.1 billion, well ahead of the $100.03 billion consensus estimate.
Adjusted operating income climbed 35.5% year-over-year to $5.15 billion. Operating profit at the company’s health services unit, which includes its clinics, rose 10% to $1.73 billion from $1.58 billion, driven by changes to how CVS operates its Oak Street primary care business.
CVS also said its MinuteClinic will begin offering $29 appointments for adults seeking prescriptions for weight-loss drugs, including Novo Nordisk’s Wegovy and Eli Lilly’s Zepbound.
The group raised its full-year 2026 earnings guidance, now expecting adjusted EPS of $7.90 to $8.10, up from a prior range of $7.30 to $7.50 and above the $7.45 consensus estimate.
