Forefront Global Logistics (FGL), a Chicago-based freight brokerage, has adopted a suite of transportation management tools from Descartes Systems Group (Nasdaq: DSGX) to automate freight execution, carrier onboarding, and shipment tracking, according to a press release from Descartes.
FGL replaced its previous transportation management system with Descartes' integrated platform, which combines four products: Descartes Aljex for workflow automation, Descartes MacroPoint for shipment visibility, Descartes MacroPoint OpsForce for AI-driven tracking and exception handling, and Descartes MyCarrierPortal for carrier vetting and fraud prevention.
"By replacing our previous transportation management system with Descartes' integrated technology stack, we've been able to expand rapidly without proportionally increasing headcount," said Daniel Shirazi, FGL president and co-founder. He added that the platform has "nearly eliminated manual check calls" and reduced fraud exposure for customers.
FGL serves domestic and international supply chains across industries including food and beverage, retail, pharmaceutical, and aerospace.
Andrew Wimer, associate general manager of transportation management at Descartes, said the platform helps FGL support its expanding brokerage operations, noting that freight brokers are increasingly consolidating onto unified platforms rather than using separate tools.
