Coursera, Inc. (NYSE: COUR) announced a $100 million strategic equity investment in LearnVector Inc., a newly founded AI-native learning company led by Andrew Ng, who also co-founded Coursera in 2012.
The investment gives Coursera a one-third ownership interest in LearnVector on a fully diluted basis. LearnVector, founded in 2026 and based in the Bay Area, is developing what it describes as one-to-one learning experiences powered by agentic AI systems that personalize learning paths for individual users.
Ng, who serves as CEO of LearnVector, said in a statement: "AI will be the greatest force in accelerating human development, if we do it right. Rather than replace people or make learning obsolete, AI grows the demand for trusted learning."
Coursera CEO Greg Hart said the investment reflects the company's view that AI expands the market for learning. "This strategic investment reflects our conviction that AI expands the market for learning rather than diminishing it," Hart said.
The two companies are exploring potential commercial collaborations that would combine LearnVector's AI technology with Coursera's content library and its platform, which reaches more than 300 million learners and 12,000 enterprise customers following Coursera's recent combination with Udemy. The first LearnVector product experiences are targeted for early 2027.
A special committee of independent Coursera board directors unanimously approved the investment after evaluating and negotiating the transaction terms with its own advisors.
Coursera is scheduled to release its financial results for the second quarter ended June 30, 2026, after market close on July 29, 2026, followed by a conference call at 2:00 p.m. Pacific Time. Andrew Ng is expected to participate in the call with prepared remarks about the investment.
