Mobix Labs agrees to buy drone maker Vision Aerial for $15M
Mobix Labs, Inc. (Nasdaq: MOBX) has signed a definitive agreement to acquire Vision Aerial, Inc., a Montana-based designer and manufacturer of National Defense Authorization Act-compliant unmanned aerial systems, for approximately $15 million in a combination of cash and Mobix Labs common stock.
The deal, which advances a previously announced letter of intent, is expected to close this quarter, subject to customary closing conditions including shareholder approval. Mobix Labs said it plans to retain Vision Aerial's key leadership and U.S.-based manufacturing operations following the close.
Founded in 2013, Vision Aerial supplies drone systems to customers including the U.S. Air Force, U.S. Navy, government agencies, energy and utility operators, and research institutions. Its aircraft support interchangeable payloads including thermal imaging, LiDAR, optical gas imaging, multispectral sensing and precision mapping technologies.
Mobix Labs said the acquisition is part of its National Security Matters Initiative, which aims to combine Vision Aerial's drone platforms with Mobix Labs' radio frequency, sensing, connectivity and defense-electronics capabilities.
"This definitive agreement is a significant milestone for Mobix Labs and our National Security Matters Initiative," said Phil Sansone, CEO of Mobix Labs. "This transaction moves us closer to closing an acquisition that can accelerate our entry into global drone and aerial intelligence markets."
Shane Beams, founder and Chief Technology Officer of Vision Aerial, said joining Mobix Labs would provide greater scale and resources while preserving the company's U.S.-based manufacturing operations.
According to Grand View Research data cited in the press release, the U.S. drone market was estimated at $29.3 billion in 2025 and is projected to reach $58.5 billion by 2033.
