Netscout Systems (NASDAQ: NTCT) announced it has doubled its Arbor Cloud DDoS attack mitigation capacity to 33 Tbps, with the expansion expected to be fully completed by the end of August 2026.
The capacity increase spans 16 global scrubbing centers and follows the company's recent acquisition of DDoS network and infrastructure. The Arbor Cloud service combines cloud-based traffic scrubbing with on-premises DDoS defense through automated cloud signaling and is supported by a 24-hour security operations center.
The announcement comes as large-scale DDoS attacks have grown in size and frequency. According to Markets and Markets, the DDoS protection market is projected to continue growing, driven by increasingly sophisticated attacks and accelerated cloud adoption. Netscout noted that botnets such as Aisuru and Kimwolf have driven some attacks to approach or exceed 30 Tbps.
"With the increased use of AI, threat actors are targeting organizations whose defenses are vulnerable to the new, more complex DDoS attacks designed to take down critical infrastructure," said Carlos Morales, SVP and general manager of Arbor Cloud at Netscout. "As enterprises increasingly rely on AI-powered applications and cloud-native services, while at the same time, attack size and complexity continue to rise, implementing automated and proactive defenses for uninterrupted availability has become a business risk imperative."
According to the company's press release, the expanded capacity is intended to handle multiple concurrent attack targets, absorb larger volumetric attacks, and provide faster stabilization following attack spikes. Netscout cited financial services, hospitals, retail, and the public sector as sectors that would benefit from the increased protection levels.
