Clearwater Paper launches recycled paperboard line with Greenpaper

Clearwater Paper Corporation (NYSE: CLW) has launched Circa, a new line of coated recycled board for folding carton and carrier applications in the United States, developed in collaboration with Greenpaper, a Monterrey, Mexico-based producer of 100% recycled fiber paperboard.

The Circa line includes two products: Circa Carton, a coated recycled folding carton board, and Circa Carrier, a high-strength carrier board. Both are made from 100% recycled fiber. Greenpaper manufactures the products using post-consumer materials on what the company describes as a newly reinvested recycled paper machine.

Clearwater Paper president and chief executive Arsen Kitch said the launch expands the company's portfolio to complement its existing solid bleached sulfate offerings. "Through our collaboration with Greenpaper, we are bringing a high-quality recycled paperboard offering to the U.S. market that complements our premium solid bleached sulfate portfolio and strengthens our ability to serve customers across more applications," he said.

Greenpaper CEO Bernardo Zambrano said the collaboration supports the company's goal of expanding its presence in the U.S. market. Greenpaper is a privately held company with more than 80 years of operating history and over 360,000 tons of annual production capacity.

According to a company press release, the arrangement pairs Clearwater Paper's U.S. distribution and service infrastructure with Greenpaper's manufacturing capabilities to expand access to recycled paperboard for independent converters in the United States.
