Marriott International (NASDAQ: MAR) has signed agreements with Catalonia Hotels & Resorts to develop two all-inclusive resorts, one in Montego Bay, Jamaica, and one in Zanzibar, Tanzania, according to a company press release.
The agreements were signed July 22 in Barcelona. The Jamaica property will operate under the Marriott Hotels brand, while the Tanzania resort will join the Autograph Collection Hotels portfolio.
The Montego Bay resort, expected to open in 2028, will result from the conversion of the former Catalonia Montego Bay. The beachfront property near Sangster International Airport is planned to include 522 rooms, 13 dining venues, three pools, approximately 12,917 square feet of meeting space, a spa, a lazy river, and more than 2,130 feet of beachfront.
The Zanzibar property is a new-build resort planned to open in 2027 with 271 guestrooms. Planned amenities include multiple pools, a spa, a theater, an oceanfront jetty with a seawater pool and bar, and multiple specialty restaurants.
As of July 2026, Marriott operates 38 all-inclusive properties across nine markets in the Caribbean and Latin America region under seven brands, with 16 properties totaling 5,600 rooms in the development pipeline. In Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Marriott's all-inclusive pipeline includes four properties representing nearly 1,990 rooms.
Catalonia currently owns, leases, and operates 82 hotels totaling more than 12,000 rooms across 25 destinations, with properties in Spain, other European cities, and the Caribbean. The company also owns the Renaissance Barcelona Fira Hotel.
