Becton, Dickinson and Company (NYSE: BDX), known as BD, announced that Dr. Michael Garrison, executive vice president and president of the Medical Essentials and BioPharma Systems segments, plans to retire effective Oct. 2 after more than 20 years with the company.
Garrison joined BD in 2005 and held several leadership roles during his tenure, including executive vice president and president of BD's Medical segment, worldwide president of Medication Management Solutions, and worldwide president of Surgery. Prior to BD, he held roles in R&D and marketing within the medical technology industry.
Garrison will remain in his current role through the end of BD's fiscal year. The company said a search is underway to identify the next president of Medical Essentials. BD's BioPharma Systems segment will report directly to Chairman, CEO and President Tom Polen going forward.
"Mike has made a significant impact on BD over the past two decades, helping guide our company through periods of transformation while always keeping our customers, patients and associates at the center of his decisions," Polen said.
BD is based in Franklin Lakes, N.J., and employs more than 60,000 people globally.
