Iran aims to restore gas output in coming months, official says

Investing.com -- Iran plans to bring back around 100 million cubic meters per day of natural gas production capacity in the coming months, Mohammad Jafar Ghaempanah, executive deputy to the president, said Monday according to the oil ministry's Shana news outlet.

Strikes on Iran's energy infrastructure have removed approximately 230 million cubic meters from daily output since U.S.-Israeli attacks began in late February. More recent U.S. strikes on southern Iran have avoided major energy facilities.

Ghaempanah said the production losses have worsened Iran's gas supply imbalance. National production previously stood at roughly 650 million cubic meters per day. The restoration of lost capacity would help improve energy supply stability, he added.

Iran's energy system faces added strain during summer months, when increased electricity demand for cooling has led to power shortages and rolling outages affecting homes and businesses.

The government is working to manage consumption and expand electricity generation capacity to ease pressure on the grid, including through solar power installations.

Ghaempanah said oil and gas workers have prevented energy facility shutdowns despite the attacks. The government continues efforts to maintain stable gas and electricity supplies, particularly for industrial and petrochemical production.
