BioLineRx Ltd. (NASDAQ: BLRX) and Hemispherian AS announced that an abstract featuring pre-clinical data on GLIX1 in combination with PARP inhibitors has been accepted as an e-Poster at the 2026 European Society for Medical Oncology Annual Congress (ESMO 2026), scheduled for October 23–27 in Madrid, Spain.
The presentation, titled "GLIX1, a TET2 Activator Targeting the DNA Damage Response, Synergizes with PARP Inhibitors in Ovarian Cancer Cell Lines," will appear in the e-Poster Area, Hall 25, under presentation number 1435eP. The data focuses on pre-clinical findings in HR-proficient ovarian cancer cell lines.
GLIX1 is an orally administered small molecule that activates the TET2 pathway, which is described as commonly inhibited in cancer. According to the companies, activating this pathway is said to overwhelm the DNA repair capacity of cancer cells, leading to cell death.
HR-proficient tumors account for approximately 50% of high-grade serous ovarian cancers, a patient population for which PARP inhibitors have shown limited effectiveness. Ovarian cancer is projected to result in an estimated 21,000 new cases and 12,450 deaths in the United States in 2026, according to the press release.
BioLineRx and Hemispherian are jointly developing GLIX1, with a Phase 1/2a clinical trial initiated in the first quarter of 2026 for glioblastoma and other solid tumors.
