ReElement Technologies Corporation, a minority holding of American Resources Corporation (NASDAQ: AREC), has received a $25 million investment from the U.S. Department of War through its Economic Defense Unit and the Office of the Under Secretary of War for Acquisition and Sustainment, via the Industrial Base Fund.
The investment is designated for ReElement's Marion, Indiana Refining Campus and will fund refining equipment, production line installation, and working capital to expand domestic production of high-purity rare earth elements and other defense-critical minerals.
The expanded facility is intended to process both primary and recycled feedstocks, including end-of-life permanent magnets, to produce materials such as yttrium, gadolinium, germanium, and gallium for use in defense, aerospace, semiconductor, and advanced communications applications.
Mark Jensen, Chief Executive Officer of ReElement Technologies, said: "This investment reflects the growing importance of secure, domestic refining capacity to America's national security and industrial resilience."
ReElement states its platform uses proprietary chromatographic separation technology capable of producing products at purities ranging from approximately 99.5% to 99.999%. The company says it has demonstrated production of more than a dozen rare earth and critical mineral products at its Noblesville, Indiana Commercial Qualification Facility.
The Marion campus is being developed using a modular approach, with individual production lines to be commissioned based on customer demand. The Department of War investment follows separate 2026 investments from Transition Equity Partners, LLC and Mitsubishi Materials Corporation, according to the company's statement.
