SK Hynix eyes blockbuster US debut with $149 ADR target, Bloomberg reports
Investing.com — South Korean semiconductor giant SK Hynix Inc. is aiming to price its highly anticipated US listing at $149 per American depositary receipt (ADR), according to a report by Bloomberg, citing people familiar with the matter.
The proposed pricing lands at a premium of approximately 3.1% over Thursday’s closing price of the company’s common shares in Seoul, where they finished the session at 218,600 won ($144.50) each. According to a regulatory filing with the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), each ADR will represent one-tenth of a common share.
If finalized, the debut would mark a historic milestone for global technology listings in New York:
Record-Breaking Volume: At $149 per ADR, the massive scale of the offering is poised to make it the largest first-time share sale in the US by a foreign issuer.
Toppling Giants: A successful launch at this valuation would surpass Alibaba Group Holding Ltd.’s legendary $25 billion debut, reshaping the leaderboard for international tech listings.
The AI Tailwind: As the world’s leading supplier of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM) chips—the essential hardware powering Nvidia’s market-dominating AI processors—SK Hynix is striking while the iron is hot, capitalizing on intense global demand for artificial intelligence infrastructure.
Note: Sources cautioned that discussions are still ongoing, and final details regarding the timing and size of the US listing could shift. A spokesperson for SK Hynix did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
