Arteris partners with IC-Link by imec on AI and HPC chip design

Arteris, Inc. (Nasdaq: AIP) announced a collaboration with IC-Link by imec, the design and manufacturing service arm of imec, to deploy Arteris network-on-chip (NoC) intellectual property in the development of AI and high-performance computing (HPC) chiplets and application-specific integrated circuits (ASICs), according to a press release.

Under the arrangement, IC-Link will integrate Arteris NoC IP into its high-speed I/O subsystem reference design, which is intended to help ASIC developers reduce integration complexity and reuse existing infrastructure across technology nodes.

"As semiconductor complexity continues to grow, including in AI ASICs, engineering teams increasingly need ways to reuse proven infrastructure and focus their efforts on high-performance differentiation," said K. Charles Janac, president and CEO of Arteris.

Ozgur Gursoy, director of portfolio and strategy for ASICs at IC-Link, said the reference design addresses recurring challenges faced by design teams at each new technology node. "With each new technology node, design teams typically face costly and time-intensive rework of their I/O subsystems," Gursoy said. "By integrating Arteris' network-on-chip IP, our reference design reduces risk and enables HPC and AI teams to focus on what matters most: optimizing the accelerator core."

No financial terms of the collaboration were disclosed.
