iBio reports preclinical data on IBIO-610 Activin E antibody in obese NHPs

iBio, Inc. (NASDAQ: IBIO) announced preclinical data from an obese non-human primate study evaluating IBIO-610, an Activin E antibody candidate, according to a press release from the clinical-stage biotechnology company.
In the study, a single dose of IBIO-610 reduced active Activin E levels in all treated animals through eight weeks. Active Activin E was reduced by 98% at week four and 97% at week eight compared with baseline, with levels falling below the limits of the assay at both time points.
In obese non-human primates receiving IBIO-610 in combination with semaglutide, the combination produced greater visceral and total fat loss while reducing lean mass loss by 73% compared with semaglutide alone.
"We are particularly encouraged to see what we believe is the highest degree of Activin E inhibition reported to date for a molecule in this class and achieved following a single dose," said Martin Brenner, DVM, Ph.D., Chief Executive Officer and Chief Scientific Officer of iBio.
The full dataset is scheduled to be presented at the 2026 European Association for the Study of Diabetes Annual Meeting in Milan on October 1, 2026. The presentation, titled "Antibody-mediated blockade of Activin E improves body composition in obese non-human primates," will be delivered by Cory Schwartz, Ph.D., Vice President of Research and Early Development at iBio.
