Markel names Bhavik Desai as MD of PFR & Cyber in London

Markel Group Inc. (NYSE: MKL) has appointed Bhavik Desai as Managing Director of PFR & Cyber within its London Market business, according to a company statement.

Desai succeeds David Sawyer, who will remain with the business until his planned retirement at the end of 2026. In his new role, Desai will oversee underwriting strategy, portfolio performance, and broker and client engagement across the PFR & Cyber division.

Desai joined Markel in 2013 and has held several senior underwriting positions, including Head of Professional Indemnity and Director of Professional Indemnity, Media & Entertainment. Prior to Markel, he held underwriting leadership roles at AIG, where he was responsible for London-placed Professional Indemnity business and the UK & Ireland Construction Professional Indemnity portfolio.

Rohan Davies, Managing Director of London Market at Markel, said Desai's appointment "provides leadership continuity for the division" and cited his technical expertise and broker relationships as key factors in the decision.

Desai said his priority would be to "build on those foundations, support our teams and continue developing a business that delivers consistent value for brokers, clients and Markel."
