First BanCorp sued over banking services tied to Jeffrey Epstein

First BanCorp (NYSE: FBP), the parent company of FirstBank Puerto Rico, has been named in a lawsuit filed in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York. The complaint alleges claims related to banking services provided to Jeffrey Epstein following a bank acquisition in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

The company and FirstBank denied the claims in the complaint and said they intend to defend against them. First BanCorp said it is reviewing the complaint and will respond through appropriate legal channels, adding that it would not provide further comment while litigation is pending.

FirstBank operates in Puerto Rico, the U.S. and British Virgin Islands, and Florida.
