Eco Wave Power (NASDAQ: WAVE) has been featured in a corporate blog post published by Nvidia, highlighting the company's use of Nvidia AI infrastructure and digital twin technology to convert ocean wave energy into electricity.
Eco Wave Power is a member of Nvidia's Inception startup program's Sustainable Futures initiative. The company uses floating devices attached to existing coastal structures such as breakwaters and sea walls to capture wave energy. Processing hardware, hydraulic conversion, and electrical components are kept onshore to reduce exposure to storm damage.
Digital twins of wave patterns and floating infrastructure, built using Nvidia Omniverse libraries, are used to simulate wave conditions and operational scenarios before physical installation. Nvidia accelerated computing is applied for real-time predictive analytics, anomaly detection, and predictive maintenance.
The company currently operates projects at Jaffa Port in Israel, developed with EDF Power Solutions and the Israeli Energy Ministry, and at the Port of Los Angeles in collaboration with AltaSea and Shell. Projects are in development at the Port of Leixões in Portugal, Suao Port in Taiwan, and Mumbai, India, with Bharat Petroleum.
A pilot at the Port of Los Angeles is testing wave energy as the sole power source for a data center, without drawing from the existing grid. AI software manages compute task scheduling based on predicted wave availability.
"We have a possibility to link AI factories directly to wave energy, because a lot of data centers are moving toward the coast," said Inna Braverman, co-founder and CEO of Eco Wave Power. "They need cooling and water, so they're now located in ports."
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, wave energy could supply over 60% of annual U.S. energy consumption.
