EHang Holdings Limited (Nasdaq: EH) announced it has been selected, alongside partners Kwoon Chung Smart Mobility Co., Ltd and Hong Kong Cyberport Management Company Limited, as one of the first batch of trial projects under Hong Kong's "Low-Altitude Economy Regulatory Sandbox X" initiative for unconventional aircraft applications.
According to a press release from the Guangzhou-based company, the participating parties plan to conduct compliant demonstration flights, scenario validation, and other coordinated efforts under the sandbox program.
EHang states it holds type, production, and standard airworthiness certificates from China's Civil Aviation Administration for its EH216-S pilotless human-carrying eVTOL aircraft. As of May 2026, the company says the EH216-S has completed more than 90,000 flights and is operating commercial trial services in Guangzhou and Hefei.
The company said it will work with its Hong Kong partners to explore advanced air mobility applications in the region, which it described as a gateway to the Greater Bay Area and global markets.
