GCT Semiconductor Holding, Inc. (NYSE: GCTS) announced a strategic repositioning of its 5G, satellite, and Non-Terrestrial Network (NTN) semiconductor portfolio toward AI edge infrastructure applications, according to a press release from the San Jose-based company.
The company said its integrated 5G system-on-chip solutions are designed to support edge computing use cases, including industrial robotics, autonomous systems, enterprise IoT, logistics, maritime operations, and AI-enabled wearables.
GCT outlined four focus areas: ultra-low-latency 5G connectivity for industrial and enterprise AI deployments; satellite and NTN chipsets for remote and mobile environments; 5G connectivity for spatial computing and wearable devices; and expanded engagements with cloud providers, robotics platforms, and private 5G operators.
"AI is moving into every device and every industry," said John Schlaefer, CEO of GCT. "Our mission is to enable the wireless pipeline necessary for real-time AI everywhere."
The company stated that its satellite and NTN initiatives target long-cycle enterprise opportunities, while spatial computing and AI wearables are expected to offer faster commercialization cycles.
GCT describes itself as a fabless designer and supplier of 5G, 4G LTE, and satellite semiconductor solutions.
