June 22, 2026 7:02 AM EDT

GXO Logistics, Inc. (NYSE: GXO) announced it will manage operations at a new distribution center in Ferentino, Italy, for Action, a non-food discount retailer operating in Europe. The facility, located in the province of Frosinone, opened recently and serves as Action's second distribution center in Italy.

The site currently employs more than 200 people, with plans to expand to 300 at full capacity and up to 350 during peak season. The distribution center is intended to support Action's retail network expansion across Central and Southern Italy.

The facility has received BREEAM Outstanding certification, a sustainability rating. It operates without natural gas and includes photovoltaic panels, LED lighting, smart energy monitoring systems, and electric vehicle charging stations.

"The Ferentino project strengthens GXO's longstanding European partnership with the client, extending a successful collaboration from France into Italy," said Alessandro Renzo, Managing Director of GXO in Italy and Switzerland.

Jens Burgers, Director of Supply Chain at Action, said the Ferentino location provides a central position for distributing to Action's store network in central and southern Italy, and noted the facility was designed with sustainability in mind across construction materials and installed equipment.

According to a press release statement, GXO was selected based on its operational presence in the Lazio region and its experience in retail logistics. GXO operates over 1,000 facilities globally with more than 150,000 employees.
