MediThinQ signs global distribution deal with Synovis MCA for SHIYA

June 18, 2026 10:02 AM EDT

MediThinQ, a South Korea-based surgical visualization company, has entered into an exclusive multi-year distribution agreement with Synovis Micro Companies Alliance, Inc., a subsidiary of Baxter International Inc. (NYSE: BAX), to distribute its SHIYA 3D surgical visualization platform globally. Financial terms were not disclosed.

The agreement gives Synovis MCA distribution rights for SHIYA, a digital exoscope system that offers up to 20x magnification and pairs with a proprietary wearable display called SCOPEYE. The platform allows surgeons to operate without conventional optical microscope eyepieces, enabling a heads-up posture and shared viewing across the surgical team.

The global rollout will be phased over time, tailored to regulatory requirements and market readiness in each country. MediThinQ has already received product approvals in the United States, Europe, Japan, China, South Korea, the United Kingdom, Australia, and Taiwan.

SHIYA has been used in more than 100 procedures to date. A 2025 review article published in JPRAS Open, led by Prof. Joon-pio Hong, Chief Medical Officer of MediThinQ, examined digital exoscope systems in microsurgery. A separate paper published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (2026), led by Dr. Hyung Bae Kim of Asan Medical Center, assessed the portability and ergonomic characteristics of 3D exoscopes with heads-up displays.

"Digital visualization is not simply an incremental improvement over conventional microscopes — it fundamentally changes how surgeons interact with the operative field," said Prof. Hong.

Seung Joon IM, Founder and CEO of MediThinQ, said the agreement is "an important step in making digital surgical visualization more widely accessible."

Michael Campbell, President of Synovis MCA, said the company is "honored to work with MediThinQ as their global partner in launching their breakthrough digital vision technology, SHIYA."

Synovis MCA has operated in the microsurgical devices market for more than three decades and maintains relationships with hospitals and reconstructive surgeons internationally.
