CNSide Diagnostics, a subsidiary of Plus Therapeutics (NASDAQ: PSTV), received accreditation from the College of American Pathologists for its Houston clinical laboratory. The accreditation followed an on-site inspection under the CAP Laboratory Accreditation Program.
The laboratory underwent evaluation of clinical protocols, documentation, quality control procedures, personnel qualifications, equipment, facilities, safety programs, and laboratory management. CNSide Diagnostics joins more than 8,000 CAP-accredited laboratories worldwide.
"Achieving CAP accreditation is a defining milestone for CNSide Diagnostics and an important validation of the quality, rigor, and operational discipline our team has built into every aspect of our laboratory," said Russ Bradley, President and General Manager of CNSide Diagnostics.
The laboratory was previously CLIA-certified. CNSide Diagnostics develops laboratory-developed tests designed to identify tumor cells that have metastasized to the central nervous system in patients with carcinomas and melanomas.
The company states the accreditation is expected to support clinical confidence among oncologists and neuro-oncologists, advance discussions with commercial and government payors regarding coverage and reimbursement, facilitate health system adoption, and enable future test menu expansion.
Plus Therapeutics is a Houston-based healthcare company developing precision diagnostics and radiopharmaceuticals for central nervous system cancers. The company's pipeline includes programs in leptomeningeal metastases and recurrent glioblastoma.
The College of American Pathologists describes itself as the world's largest organization of board-certified pathologists and a provider of laboratory accreditation and proficiency testing programs.
