Jacobs (NYSE: J) has been awarded an engineering, procurement and construction management contract by Hut 8 (NASDAQ: HUT) to deliver a second AI data center campus in the United States, according to a company statement.
The contract represents follow-on work to Jacobs' previously announced role at Hut 8's River Bend campus in Louisiana. The new project, called Beacon Point, is located in Nueces County, Texas, and is designed to support one gigawatt of total capacity across multiple phases.
Jacobs will apply design elements from the River Bend campus to the Texas site and deploy its data center digital twin technology to simulate critical assets. The company stated this approach aims to reduce commissioning risks and accelerate deployment of AI workloads.
"This follow-on award underscores Hut 8's confidence in Jacobs' ability to deliver complex AI Infrastructure with speed, safety and certainty," said Bob Pragada, Jacobs chair and chief executive officer.
Hut 8 CEO Asher Genoot said the company selected Jacobs as the engineering lead for the second time, citing the need for execution certainty at this scale.
The project timeline targets initial energization and commissioning for 2027. Hut 8's interconnection agreement for the full utility capacity establishes a pathway for potential campus expansion as demand for AI and high-performance computing grows.
Beacon Point represents Hut 8's second AI data center campus developed under its power-first greenfield development model. Jacobs reported approximately $12 billion in annual revenue and employs about 47,000 people.
