PTC (NASDAQ: PTC) announced a new workflow connecting its Onshape computer-aided design platform with NVIDIA Isaac Sim simulation framework. The integration allows robotics teams to move from design to simulation while maintaining automatic updates when designs change.
The cloud-native workflow enables engineers to define mechanical relationships once in Onshape and carry them directly into Isaac Sim. When a design changes, the simulation updates automatically without requiring manual recreation of joints, actuators, and other physical details.
The workflow is being introduced at NVIDIA GTC 2026, taking place March 16-19 in San Jose. The integration runs on Amazon Web Services infrastructure to keep design and simulation synchronized throughout development.
"The integration between Onshape and NVIDIA Isaac Sim will allow us to bring simulation earlier into how industrial robotic systems are designed and evaluated," said Amar Dhaliwal, General Manager of Automation Systems Group at FANUC America Corporation.
According to PTC, the workflow addresses friction in traditional robotics development where handoffs between design and simulation are slow and manual. The company states this forces teams to recreate physical details after exporting CAD models.
"Robotics development depends on a continuous feedback loop between design and physics-accurate simulation," said Rev Lebaredian, Vice President of Omniverse and simulation technologies at NVIDIA. "Connecting PTC's cloud-native Onshape platform to NVIDIA Isaac Sim ensures every design update is reflected instantly in simulation."
The integration also supports downstream robotic training in NVIDIA Isaac Lab for physical AI applications. PTC employs over 7,000 people and supports more than 30,000 customers globally.
