United Airlines (NYSE: UAL), responding to reports a dog died on a flight after its owner was forced to store it in an overhead compartment, said the customer did inform the flight attendant that the dog was in the carrier but the attendant didn't hear or understand what was said, according to Bloomberg.

United will begin issuing bright colored bag tags to customer traveling with in-cabin pets by April, the report said.
