Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) is expected to partner with Acer and Lenovo on a series of lower-priced notebooks equipped with Windows 10.
According to Digitimes, the Windows 10-based notebooks will range in price from $169 up to $249. Release is expected to begin in the middle of August and run through the Q415.
The three low-priced notebooks -- two from Acer, one from Lenovo -- will be powered by Intel's (Nasdaq: INTC) Broadwell processors.
Digitimes doesn't see Microsoft's efforts as slowing growth of Google's (Nasdaq: GOOG)(Nasdaq: GOOGL) Chromebook anytime soon.
Shares of Microsoft are down 0.3 percent Tueday.
