Intel (INTC) Near Deal to Acquire Altera (ALTR) at $54/Share

Altera Corp (NASDAQ: ALTR) is up 5.7% early to $51.65 amid reports over the weekend from the Wall Street Journal that Intel (NASDAQ: INTC) is near a long-anticipated deal to acquire the company for $54 per share. A deal is expected to be announced as early as this morning.

Deal talk between the two was originally reported in March and has been on-again, off-again. At one point, the two discussed a deal at $58 per share but the offer was revised down and eventually talks ended before re-starting recently.
