Investing.com -- Stocks gave back most of their early gains on Tuesday after the November inflation report showed prices cooling more than expected. Here are the midday movers for Dec. 13.

  • Moderna Inc (NASDAQ: MRNA) shares rose 22% after the pharmaceutical maker most famous for its mRNA COVID-19 vaccine reported positive trends from the trial of its vaccine for skin cancer together with Merck&Company Inc's (NYSE: MRK) Keytruda treatment. Shares of Merck were up 0.7%.

  • United Airlines Holdings Inc (NASDAQ: UAL) stock fell 6.6% after the carrier ordered 100 new Dreamliner 787 planes from Boeing, with an option to buy 100 more, in what it called the largest widebody order by a U.S. carrier in commercial aviation history. It is also ordering dozens more 737 Max planes. Boeing Co (NYSE: BA) shares were flat.
