European shares rise as chipmakers bounce on Nvidia forecast May 23, 2024 03:26AM

(Reuters) - European stocks edged higher on Thursday after strong forecasts from AI darling Nvidia lifted global chipmakers, while investors awaited the latest business surveys to gauge the euro zone economy's outlook and interest rate path.

The pan-European STOXX 600 index was up 0.2%, as of 0711 GMT, with the tech index gaining 1.2% to lead sectoral gains.

LONDON (Reuters) - Euro zone business activity has expanded at its fastest pace in a year this month, supported by buoyant demand for services, while the manufacturing sector showed signs of approaching a recovery, a preliminary survey showed on Thursday.

UAE economy grew 4.3% in fourth quarter of 2023 May 23, 2024 03:46AM

DUBAI (Reuters) - The United Arab Emirates' (UAE) economy grew 4.3% year-on-year in the fourth quarter of 2023, preliminary government data showed, with non-oil economic growth vastly outperforming overall GDP.

Non-oil GDP surged 6.7% in the same period, according to data from the Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Centre.

(Reuters) - Supermarket group Ahold Delhaize expects to grow underlying earnings per share and increase savings over the 2025-2028 period, it said on Thursday, as it plans to boost digitalisation and the use of artificial intelligence (AI).
