US Southwest and Texas at risk of power shortfalls this summer, regulator says May 15, 2024 03:20PM

NEW YORK (Reuters) - The U.S. Southwest and Texas are at an increased risk of power supply shortfalls during times of peak demand this summer due to rising electricity consumption and supply constraints, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation said on Wednesday.

Netflix hits 40 million users for ad-supported plan May 15, 2024 03:18PM

(Reuters) - Netflix said on Wednesday its ad-supported tier has reached 40 million global monthly active users, from 5 million a year earlier, a sign that its push to attract new users with the cheaper plan is paying off.

The jump comes at a time when streaming companies are facing stiff competition and introducing bundles with their rivals to retain subscribers.

Tyson Foods unsure when tight US cattle supplies will expand, CEO says May 15, 2024 03:14PM

CHICAGO (Reuters) - Tyson Foods cannot predict exactly when U.S. ranchers will start rebuilding the cattle herd in a meaningful way, CEO Donnie King said on Wednesday, as tight supplies squeeze the meatpacker's beef business.

Producers slashed the herd to its lowest level in decades due to high feed costs and drought in the western United States, increasing the prices Tyson must pay to buy livestock for processing.

US working to get American doctors out of Gaza, White House says May 15, 2024 03:02PM

(Reuters) - The Biden administration is working to get U.S. doctors out of Gaza, White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre said on Wednesday, as fighting intensified in the seaside enclave.

A group of American doctors from the Palestinian American Medical Association told the Washington Post this week that they were stuck in Gaza after Israel closed the border crossing in the southern city of Rafah.

Foreign actors seek to influence American elections, US spy chief says May 15, 2024 02:58PM

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -There are an increasing number of foreign actors, including non-state actors, seeking to influence U.S. elections, and Russia, China and Iran are the most significant, U.S. Director of National Intelligence Avril Haines told a Senate hearing on Wednesday.
