Ukraine investigates civilian injuries, battles rage in Kharkiv region May 18, 2024 01:21PM

KYIV (Reuters) - Ukrainian prosecutors said they were investigating attacks on civilians in two cities in the northeastern region of Kharkiv and President Volodymyr Zelenskiy reported successes by troops fighting a fresh Russian assault there on Saturday.

Zelenskiy said in his nightly video address that Ukrainian forces had grown in confidence, particularly in Kharkiv region.

Israeli military says it recovered another slain hostage from Gaza May 18, 2024 01:08PM

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - The Israeli military said on Saturday that its forces operating in the Gaza Strip recovered the body of Ron Binyamin, who was among 252 people seized by Hamas-led Palestinian gunmen in a cross-border Oct. 7 rampage that triggered the ongoing war.

Britain's M&S sorry after website and app hit by 'technical issue' May 18, 2024 12:58PM

LONDON (Reuters) - British retailer Marks & Spencer apologised to customers on Saturday after its website and app went offline for several hours due to a "technical issue".

Visitors to the group's site were from around lunchtime greeted with the message: "PLEASE BEAR WITH US. Sorry you can't shop with us right now. We're working hard to be back online as soon as possible."

TRIPOLI (Reuters) - At least one person was killed and six injured when fierce clashes broke out on Saturday in the city of Zawiya in western Libya, prompting calls for a ceasefire to rescue families trapped in the conflict area, a Libyan TV channel said.

Georgian president vetoes 'foreign agents' bill, TASS reports May 18, 2024 11:11AM

TBILISI (Reuters) - Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili has announced that she has vetoed a draft law on foreign agents, Russia's state-run TASS news agency reported on Saturday.

Zourabichvili had said previously that she would veto the bill, which has sparked street protests, but her decision can be overridden by another vote in parliament, controlled by Georgia's ruling party and its allies.
