NEW DELHI (Reuters) - As Prime Minister Narendra Modi faces voter fatigue and some resistance from a resurgent opposition in India's mammoth general election, foot soldiers of his party's Hindu nationalist parent have stepped in to help regain momentum, insiders said.

Suspect in Malaysia police attack acted alone, not linked to militant group, report says May 19, 2024 08:57PM

KUALA LUMPUR (Reuters) - The suspect in an attack on a Malaysian police station that killed two officers last week acted alone and was not part of any militant group, state news agency Bernama reported, citing the country's top police official.

Authorities initially said the man, who was killed during the attack, was suspected of being a member of the Jemaah Islamiah (JI) militant group.

Australia's Star Entertainment gets potential deal offers May 19, 2024 07:33PM

(Reuters) -Australian casino operator Star Entertainment Group said on Monday it had received unsolicited and non-binding interest from several external parties for potential take-control transactions.

"At this stage, none of the approaches has resulted in substantive discussions," Star said in a statement.

Schumer says US Senate will try again to pass border bill May 19, 2024 07:29PM

(Reuters) - U.S. Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer said on Sunday the Senate would once again try to pass a bipartisan border security bill this week after a previous attempt failed when enough Republicans withdrew their support at the urging of former President Donald Trump.

"I hope Republicans and Democrats can work together to pass the bipartisan Border Act this coming week," Schumer said in a letter to senators.
