HAVANA, Feb 6 (Reuters) - ⁠Cuba detailed a ⁠wide-ranging plan ‍on Friday to protect essential services and ration fuel as the communist-run government dug in its heels in defiance of a U.S. effort to cut ‍off oil supply to the Caribbean island.

Feb 6 (Reuters) - A divided ⁠federal appeals court ⁠upheld on ‍Friday the Trump administration's policy of placing people arrested in its immigration crackdown in mandatory detention without an opportunity to be released on bond.

Crypto firm accidentally sends $44 billion in bitcoins to users Feb 6, 2026 10:02PM

SEOUL, Feb 7 (Reuters) - ⁠South Korean ⁠cryptocurrency ‍exchange Bithumb said on Saturday it had accidentally given away more than $40 billion ‍worth of bitcoins to customers as promotional ​rewards, triggering a sharp selloff on the exchange.

China's central bank buys gold for 15th consecutive month Feb 6, 2026 09:47PM

Feb 7 (Reuters) - China's central ⁠bank extended ⁠its ‍gold buying spree for a 15th month in January, data from the People's Bank of ‍China (PBOC) showed on Saturday.

The country's gold holdings rose to ​74.19 million fine troy ounces by the end of January, up ​from 74.15 million the previous month.

Drought spreads beyond Kenya's arid north, plunging herders into crisis Feb 6, 2026 09:36PM

SHOMPOLE, Kenya, Feb ⁠6 (Reuters) - The dozens of ⁠cow and ‍goat carcasses scattered around Maria Katanga's family compound testify to the grinding impact of an ongoing drought on Kenya's pastoralist communities who rely on livestock for survival.

Since August, the 24-year-old Maasai ‍herder has lost more than 100 cattle and 300 goats to drought - and the animals ​still in her care are too emaciated to produce milk.
