James Altucher over at RealMoney.com put out 5 Internet buys for the new day. The report was sparked in part by News Corp's (NYSE: NWS) $540 million deal to buy Intermix (AMEX: MIX), which was announced yesterday. Altucher lists Miva (Nasdaq: MIVA) (higher today on upgrade and YHOO takeover chatter), Tom Online (Nasdaq: TOMO), Greenfield Online Inc (Nasdaq: SRVY), Keystone Systems (Nasdaq: KEYN) and Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) as his picks. While he doesn't say specifically, I assume the first four are possible takeout targets. Altucher said he likes MSFT because it is being underestimated and is under valued. He said he will have 5 more buy picks tomorrow and the third portion of the series will be 5 stocks not making the list right now.
NOTE: While this report is not influencing the market, some of these stocks look interesting and may be worth watching as the consolidation of the surviving Internet firms continues. Yesterday we listed TheStreet.com (Nasdaq: TSCM), iVillage Inc. (Nasdaq: IVIL) and CNET Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: CNET) as Internet content stocks traders are watching on the consolidation trend.
