Google (GOOG) Distances Itself from Yahoo! (YHOO), Others in October

Google (Nasdaq: GOOG) outpaced rivals in continued dominance of the U.S. search market, new data shows.
According to a report from conScore (Nasdaq: SCOR), Google gained 0.3 points to 65.6 percent in October. By comparison, the next closest competitor, Yahoo! (Nasdaq: YHOO) dropped 0.3 points to 15.2 percent.
Third goes to Microsoft (Nasdaq: MSFT) sites, which moved from 14.7 percent in September, to 14. percent. Ask Network, of IAC/InterActiveCorp. (Nasdaq: IACI), fell 0.1 points to 2.9 percent, and AOL (NYSE: AOL) remained flat at 1.5 percent.
On Core searches in the U.S., comScore stated, "Google Sites accounted for 66.2 percent of total core search queries conducted (up 0.8 percentage points), followed by Yahoo! Sites with 16.3 percent and Microsoft Sites with 13.6 percent (up 0.2 percentage points). Ask Network comprised 2.6 percent of total search queries, followed by AOL, Inc. with 1.4 percent."
