(Nasdaq: IDIX) 22% LOWER; announced that after discussions with the FDA the development program of valopicitabine (NM283) for the treatment of hepatitis C has been placed on clinical hold in the United States based on the overall risk/benefit profile observed to date in clinical testing.
Playtex Products, Inc., (NYSE: PYX) 16% HIGHER; Energizer Holdings, Inc., (NYSE: ENR) announced it will acquire Playtex for $18.30 per share in cash plus the assumption of Playtex debt. Total enterprise value of the transaction is approximately $1.9 billion.
Vimicro International (Nasdaq: VIMC) 14% LOWER; Reports Q4 and Q1 results. The company said, "Our first quarter results were impacted by a number of factors including a longer than expected delay in the release of Microsoft's Vista Operating System, the seasonality resulting from an overall business slowdown associated with the Chinese New Year Holiday as well as pricing pressure within some of our product lines."
Nextest Systems Corporation (Nasdaq: NEXT) 10% LOWER; updated guidance for its fiscal fourth quarter by announcing preliminary results below the low end of the range of previous guidance. Revenues for the fourth quarter ended June 30, 2007, are expected to be in the range of $13 million to $14 million. (Consensus is $23.17 million)
RAE Systems Inc. (AMEX: RAE) 9% HIGHER; Wins Polimaster Arbitration
Macrovision Corporation (NASDAQ: MVSN) 8% LOWER; sees preliminary Q2 revenue in a range of between $57 million and $59 million, versus previously provided estimates of between $65 million and $68 million. On a non-GAAP basis, this equates to a range of between $0.19 and $0.22 per share. The Company previously provided non-GAAP estimates of between $0.24 and $0.27.
SBE Inc. (Nasdaq: SBEI) 7% LOWER; continues lower following yesterday's 178% run-up. The stock was down 16.4% intra-day.
Spectrum Brands, Inc. (NYSE: SPC) 6.3% LOWER; anticipates that full year 2007 sales and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) will be lower than previously anticipated. Preliminary results for the recently completed fiscal third quarter and projections for the fiscal fourth quarter suggest that the company will generate full year 2007 net sales of approximately $2,634 million and EBITDA of between $260 and $264 million. This compares with earlier expectations of net sales of $2,648 million and EBITDA of $282 million. The company cited unfavorable weather conditions.
Dyax Corp. (NASDAQ: DYAX) 3.5% HIGHER; announced today the pricing of an underwritten public offering of 10,500,00 shares of its common stock at a public offering price of $3.67 per share
Semitool, Inc. (Nasdaq: SMTL) 3% LOWER; Q3 Revenue guidance, which previously was in the range of $50 million to $53 million, has been revised to a range of $45 million to $46 million. (Consensus is $52.3 million). Earnings per share guidance, previously expected to be between $0.00 and $0.02 prior to restructuring costs of $0.01 per share, was revised to a loss per share of between $0.01 and $0.03 prior to restructuring costs of $0.01 per share. Warnaco Group Inc. (NASDAQ: WRNC) 2.78% HIGHER; will replace Lear Corp. (NYSE: LEA) in the S&P MidCap 400 index after the close of trading on a date to be announced.
Alcoa Inc. (NYSE: AA) 2.2% HIGHER; has withdrawn its offer for Alcan Inc. (NYSE: AL) in light of Rio Tinto's (NYSE: RTP) announced agreement to purchase Alcan.
General Electric (NYSE: GE) 1.7% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.52, in-line with estimates. Revenues were $42.3 billion vs. $41.7 billion consensus. Increasing 2007 share repurchase program to $14 billion
Amgen (NASDAQ: AMGN) 1% HIGHER; announced that its board of directors has authorized additional repurchases of up to $5 billion in Amgen common stock.
Lufkin Industries, Inc. (Nasdaq: LUFK) INDICATED LOWER; Based on continued softness the Company has experienced in North American oil field markets, Lufkin also has lowered the top end of its guidance range for 2007 earnings per diluted share to establish a new range of $4.60 to $5.00 compared with the previous range of $4.60 to $5.40. (Consensus is $5.04)
