DUSA Pharmaceuticals, Inc. (NASDAQ: DUSA) 32% HIGHER; announced that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has granted Orphan Drug Designation for Levulan Photodynamic Therapy (PDT) for the treatment of esophageal dysplasia.
Alliance Data Systems Corporation (NYSE: ADS) 28.7% HIGHER; has entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Blackstone Capital Partners V L.P., an affiliate of The Blackstone Group, in a transaction valued at approximately $7.8 billion, including the assumption of certain debt. Under the terms of the agreement, Blackstone will acquire all of the outstanding common stock of Alliance Data for $81.75 per share in cash.
Acxiom (Nasdaq: ACXM) 17.9% HIGHER; announced late Wednesday that they entered into a definitive agreement to be acquired by Silver Lake and ValueAct Capital in an all-cash transaction valued at $3.0 billion, including the assumption of approximately $756 million of debt. Acxiom stockholders will receive $27.10 in cash for each outstanding share of stock.
OPNET (Nasdaq: OPNT) 10.4% LOWER; reports Q4 earnings of $0.07 per share, 2 cents worse than estimates. Revenues came in at $24.4 million versus the consensus of $24.9 million. Sees Q1 EPS of $0.02-$0.08 versus the consensus of $0.11. Sees Q1 revs of $24-$26 million versus the consensus of $26.1 million.
24/7 Real Media, Inc. (NASDAQ: TFSM) 6% HIGHER; signed a definitive agreement to be acquired by WPP Group plc in an all-cash transaction valued at approximately $649 million, net of cash acquired. Under the terms of the agreement WPP will commence a cash tender offer for all 24/7 Real Media shares for $11.75 per share.
Napster (Nasdaq: NAPS) 6% LOWER; reports Q4 loss of $0.20 per share, in-line with the consensus. Revenues came in at $29.1 million versus the consensus of $28 million. Sees Q1 revenues of $31 million versus the consensus of $34.5 million.
Sun Microsystems Inc. (Nasdaq: SUNW) 3.5% HIGHER; announced that its Board of Directors authorized the repurchase of up to $3 billion of the company's outstanding common shares.
J. C. Penney Company, Inc. (NYSE: JCP) 2.6% HIGHER; reports Q1 EPS of $1.04, 1 cent better than estimates. Revenues were $4.35 billion vs. $4.39 billion consensus. Sees Q2 EPS of approx. $0.77 (including the impact of $0.03 per share for costs associated with the early redemption of debt) vs. consensus of $0.79. Full year earnings per share from continuing operations are now expected to be in the area of $5.49 per share, an increase of $0.05 per share from previous guidance. (Consensus is $5.49)

Hewlett-Packard Co. (NYSE: HPQ) 0.7% HIGHER; reports Q2 EPS of $0.70, 2 cents better than estimates. Revenues came in at $25.53 billion versus the consensus of $25.1 billion. Sees Q3 revenues of $23.7-$23.9 billion. Sees Q3 EPS of $0.64-$0.65. Sees FY07 EPS of $2.75-$2.77. Sees FY revs of $100.5-$100.9 billion.
