Roth Capital Previews Preclinical PRESERVATION-1 Data; Affirms BioLineRx (BLRX) at 'Buy'

Roth Capital affirms BioLineRx, Ltd. (Nasdaq: BLRX) at Buy with a price target of $10.50 ahead of the company's presentation of CE Mark registration PRESERVATION-1 study data, which BLRX's partner, Bellerophon (Nasdaq: BLPH-NC), is currently conducting.

Analyst Joseph Pantginis commented, While we generally do not write about preclinical data, we believe this preclinical study is important in light of the expected upcoming PRESERVATION-1 topline data release. While no animal model can fully recreate the human cardiovascular disease setting, porcine models serve as a good proxy for such conditions and provide valuable data regarding potential outcomes in humans. Importantly, the same clinical endpoints are used in the two species. We believe that the combined preclinical and Phase I/II clinical data provide strong support for the therapeutic potential of BL-1040 in AMI. Recall that the pilot study of BL-1040 in 27 patients showed that intracoronary deployment of the polymer solution was feasible and well-tolerated and that BL-1040 treatment preserved left ventricular function indices. This suggests that BL-1040 minimizes the irreversible, pathological cardiac remodeling that is common following AMI. With regards to the U.S. study, Bellerophon is in discussions with FDA regarding the U.S. study, PRESERVATION-II, that could potentially start in 1H16.
