Despite an escalating trade depute that pits China against the US and Europe, China is unlikely to impose tariffs on polysilicon imports, according to analyst Aaron Chew of Maxim Group. A ruling brought by domestic producers is expected on February 20th, but based on Chew’s analysis new tariffs on imports from U.S. and Korean manufacturer is not expected.
The decision may have an impact on U.S. polysilicon manufactures like MEMC (NYSE: WFR), First Solar, Inc. (Nasdaq: FSLR), SunPower (Nasdaq: SPWR), and Ascent Solar (Nasdaq: ASTI).
