Ahead of the next Monday's shareholder vote, Barclays said it will allow existing shareholders some of the same terms that Middle Eastern investors are receiving for their equity investments. Specifically, existing Barclays shareholders will receive shares similar to preference stock.

The WSJ article notes that Barclays original agreement with investors from Qatar includes selling a 32% stake in the company, in exchange for a lofty 14% return on preferred shares through 2019.
