JA Solar (JASO) Blows Up Solar Stocks Today After Weak Results/Guidance (SOL, SOLF, ESLR, STP, FSLR, MORE...)

Shares of JA Solar (Nasdaq: JASO) are down 31% today following disappointing Q3 results and miserable guidance. The carnage in JASO is also spreading to other solar stocks today. The ETF that tracks the sector, Claymore/MAC Global Solar Energy (NYSE: TAN), is down 14% today.

JA Solar reported Q3 earnings of $0.26 per share, ex-items, below the consensus of $0.27. Revenues rose 150% to $312.3 million, versus the consensus of $304.2 million.

For Q4, JA Solar sees non-GAAP EPS of break-even, well below the consensus of a $0.30 profit. JASO sees Q4 revenues of $191.5-$220.9 million, well below the consensus of $371.39 million. Gross margin in the fourth quarter is expected to be between 5 and 7%

For 2009. JA Solar sees FY09 non-GAAP EPS of $0.90, well below the consensus of $1.27. JASO sees FY09 revenues of $1.5-$1.7 billion, versus the consensus of $1.73 billion. Full-year gross margins are expected to be at least 16%.
