Sherwin-Williams (NYSE: SHW) warning could spell trouble for The Valspar Corporation (NYSE: VAL). Earlier today, Sherwin-Williams warned that housing and the rise in commodity costs has hurt the company, and thus, Sherwin-Williams lowered its Q2 and FY08 outlook. Valspar is a competitor of Sherwin-Williams and is likely encountering similar problems. Valspar is currently trading at $22.45.

The Valspar Corporation is a global coating and paints manufacturer and distributor.

The Sherwin-Williams Company is engaged in the development, manufacture, distribution and sale of paint, coatings and related products to professional, industrial, commercial and retail customers primarily in North and South America with additional operations in the United Kingdom, Europe, India and China.
